Privacy Policy
The short version: Word Quilt has no accounts and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, or location, and we can't see your game progress. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, anonymous usage statistics by Google Analytics for Firebase, and purchases are handled entirely by Apple. You can decline ad tracking — and in the EEA/UK, ad consent — with one tap; the game works exactly the same either way.
What we collect
Nothing, directly. Word Quilt has no account system and no servers of ours. Your progress (levels, coins, collections, settings) is stored on your device and, automatically, in your personal iCloud so it can follow you to a new phone. That backup lives in your Apple account — we have no way to read it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free game is supported by a small banner ad and by optional rewarded videos you choose to watch. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect device information — such as advertising identifiers, IP address, and general ad-interaction data — to serve and measure ads. We don't receive or store this data ourselves.
- On iOS, the system asks your permission before any ad tracking (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, ads simply become less personalized — nothing in the game changes.
- You can review how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and policies.google.com/privacy.
- The Remove Ads purchase removes the banner entirely.
Ad consent in the EEA & UK
If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the game shows Google's consent message the first time you play, before any ads load. Personalized ads are served only with your consent; if you decline, ads are non-personalized or limited instead, and the game is unchanged. You can change your answer any time in the game under Settings → Privacy options.
Analytics (Google Firebase)
Word Quilt uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is played in aggregate — things like which levels are completed, how long sessions last, and whether features get used. This involves device information and an app instance identifier, not your name, email, or anything you type. We use it only to make the game better, and we never see data about you as an identifiable person. Google describes its processing at policies.google.com/privacy.
Purchases
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Purchases can be restored on any device signed into your Apple account via Settings → Restore purchases in the game.
We don't sell your data
We don't sell personal information, and we collect nothing beyond the advertising and analytics described above. There is no chat, no social features, and no user-generated content.
Children
Word Quilt is a general-audience game rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; the game collects no personal information from anyone.
Your choices
- Decline or change ad tracking any time: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- In the EEA/UK, change your ad consent any time in the game: Settings → Privacy options.
- Remove ads permanently with the one-time Remove Ads purchase.
- Delete the app to remove all local data; your iCloud backup can be cleared in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.
Your rights (EEA & UK)
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, personalized advertising runs on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see above); non-personalized ads and aggregate analytics rely on legitimate interests in funding and improving a free game. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Because Word Quilt itself holds no personal data, the data these rights usually concern is held by Google (ads, analytics) and Apple (purchases) as described in their policies — but you can always start with us at haddanw@gmail.com and we'll help you exercise them. Data processed by Google and Apple may be transferred to the United States and other countries under appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. For this policy, the responsible party ("data controller") is Haddan Ward, the independent developer of Word Quilt, reachable at the email above.
Changes & contact
If this policy ever changes, the update will appear on this page with a new effective date. Questions are always welcome: haddanw@gmail.com.
